I have a BFA degree in Fine Arts with Honors from Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, CA. I am classically trained in oil painting. I've been painting since I was the age of seven. In art school I tried and used mostly all the mediums including acrylic, chalk, pencil, watercolor, oil, clay and mixed media. I discovered and fell in love with encaustics 9 years ago. It's the most challenging medium for me but it is also the most fun.
I have volunteered to teach art to elementary, middle and high school kids for over 10 years. I absolutely LOVE to teach art to kids.
I use encaustic paint, a beeswax based medium mixed with damar resin. (crystallized tree sap) When they are mixed together it makes the wax very durable and has a new melting temperature of over 180 degrees Fahrenheit.
I also paint with acrylics and oil paint. I enjoy painting with 3 different mediums. It’s the variety and the very different behaviors of the paint that keeps me very interested and entertained! I never get bored!
Both my prints and mats are archival quality, acid free, non-fading and non-yellowing. They will look great for years and years.
Creative people make up about 1% of the population. So, artists are rare and wonderful! I believe I have a gift and I’m happy to share my artist gift with you. Enjoy!
