Born and raised in Provo, Utah, Sandra does not remember a time when she was not painting or drawing. "Art has always been a part of my life, I always knew that was what I wanted to do." After attending Brigham Young University with the opportunity to study drawing, painting and design, Sandra married the lover of her life, Roger, and immediately left Provo to live and work in Boston and later Los Angeles where she enjoyed a successful career in the commercial art field.
Deciding to return to Provo to raise their family, a burning desire to return to her lifelong passion for painting led Sandra to study with well-known artists through workshops and classes. Her creative spirit has been a determining factor in her life. Striving to capture that special “magic” in the subject matter that she paints is a fascinating and compelling force in her creative experience.
Sandra and Roger have traveled extensively around the world visiting museums for inspiration and to expand her knowledge and reverence for ‘the great ones.’ Of her artist journey she writes, “I like being around other artists, and enjoy their views and techniques. I never stop learning. Having opportunities to visit the beautiful areas of our state has been really inspiring and humbling. It’s made me very grateful for God’s grace to us.”
She is currently the President of Utah Valley Artist Guild, an organization that encourages artists and gives them opportunities to exhibit. Her prize-winning art can be found in collections in Pennsylvania, Colorado, California, Arizona, as well as private collections and galleries in Utah. She’s had solo exhibits at the Covey Center for the Arts, Terra Nova Gallery, Repartee Gallery, Heirloom Art and Riverside Country Club. Group exhibits include Alpine Art Center, Anderson Gallery at Academy Square Library, Utah County Gallery, Fairview Museum, Coleman Studios, Terra Nova Gallery, Utah State Fair, Freedom Festival at the Covey Center, Logan Fine Art Invitational, Utah Valley University Library Exhibit, Logan Fine Art 'Salon d'Autumne', the Spiritual Invitational and Spring Art Salon at the Springville Museum, and the prestigious "Utah Image" exhibit in Salt Lake City.
Sandy and her husband Roger are parents to 4 children and grandparents to 13 grandchildren.
